AT&T gives $10,000 to Ada Regional United Way

For over 60 years, AT&T and the AT&T Foundation have been strong supporters of the United Way both at the national and local levels.  Today, AT&T continues this legacy of support through a contribution of $10,000 to Ada Regional United Way. In 2016 alone, AT&T gave $5 million to 500 local United Ways across the country.

Ada Regional United Way will use the contribution to support programs that create long lasting change in the local community. The United Way is dedicated to improving lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good, as is evident from the work the Ada Regional United Way is doing in Oklahoma.  In 2015, AT&T’s $10,000 corporate contribution made a significant difference in providing support services to nearly 8,000 people.  These funds helped the Ada Regional United Way to support 14 programs at 11 area non-profit agencies, allowing the organization to collaborate and more effectively provide assistance to the elderly and children, the sick, abused and addicted, the hungry and homeless, the grieving and disabled. This year, the Ada Regional United Way is celebrating 70 years of serving the community.

“Ada Regional United Way fights for the health, education and financial stability of every citizen in our service area,” said James Jackson, Executive Director, Ada Regional United Way. “We win by living united, forging unlikely partnerships, finding new solutions to old problems, mobilizing the best resources and inspiring individuals to join the fight against a common foe: each community’s most daunting social crisis.  Donations help us fund programs that make the building blocks of a quality life more accessible to more people in Ada and all of the communities we support. We are grateful for AT&T’s ongoing generosity.”

In addition to this contribution, each year AT&T employees take part in an employee giving campaign that provides millions of dollars to nonprofit organizations, including the United Way.  In 2015, AT&T employees, including employees represented by the Communication Workers of America, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers or the Telecommunications International Union, pledged $37.4 million to nonprofits through this campaign.

“AT&T shares United Way’s commitment to strengthening communities,” said Jan Moran, external affairs manager, AT&T Oklahoma. “The Ada Regional United Way supports programs that have a proven, positive impact on people’s lives. When citizens are connected with resources and expertise that help them succeed, communities like Ada become better places to live for everyone.”
