Ada Regional United Way opens new online Volunteer Center

The Ada News, Friday June 24, 2015
Being a part of a community is about more than just living here. It’s about giving back to the community that you love.
No one understands this better than Ada Regional United Way (ARUW.) Founded as a community chest in 1947, ARUW has over 68 years of experience working toward creating long-lasting community change in the areas of Education, Income and Health – the building blocks of a good quality of life.
ARUW wants you to get involved.
“We just went live with an all new website that includes a very powerful tool,” James Jackson, Executive Director said, “The all new online Volunteer Center was created to be a hub for the community to find ways to lend their passion, expertise, time and muscle to volunteer with agencies that are making a difference in our community.”
The all new Volunteer Center can be accessed from ARUW’s new website at and clicking on the VOLUNTEER tab at the top of the page. Users can login easily with their Facebook account or create a new account. They will see a list of needs and events throughout the community and be able to respond instantaneously.
“One of the best features is the ability to become a Fan of an ARUW community partner agency and get an instant email notification as soon as that agency posts a need,” Jackson said.
As more businesses and schools are requiring community service hours, this is a great resource for students and employees to get connected with the needs that they are passionate about.
“Tracking your volunteer hours has never been easier,” Jackson said, “You can track your volunteers hours and see what kind of difference you are making in the community.”
ARUW will be hosting a booth at East Central University’s Howdy Days on August 17, 2015, from 10am -2pm. Visit Jackson there to find out more about ARUW’s Volunteer Center, or check it out online at
